Since graduating in 1980 from Bath University with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Systems Engineering, I have worked in all aspects of software engineering, from coding and testing through to project management and development manager; from simulating aero-engines for Rolls Royce to managing multi-national development teams for Cisco delivering multi-million pound projects to customers including Liberty Global.
Following retirement from Cisco in 2018, and wanting a complete change, I qualified as an Approved Driving Instructor and have been teaching part time since. I designed and built my own website for the driving instructor business using Wix. However, software engineering is clearly in my blood, so during the first lockdown I used the opportunity to learn WordPress and its underlying technologies (HTML, CSS and PHP) enabling me to port my driving instructor website to WordPress and to start building websites for others.
MikePalmerDrivingSchool.com is consistently ranked near or at the top of the search results on Google when searching for local driving instructors and pulls in more than enough business.
I am now using my skills to get others online, including Wylye Valley Art Trail 2021, Dynamic Equilibrium and Stephen’s Voice. I am happy to help you develop the skills to design and build your own site, or to take the strain and do it for you. Whatever works for you.
I also undertake software maintenance of PCs and Macs, and if technology frightens you, I have a patient and calm manner to be able to coach you through the necessary steps to get online in this modern world.
